Editorial Policies

The Global Journal of Dental Specialty (GJDS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing through transparent, ethical, and rigorous editorial practices. The journal's editorial policies are developed in accordance with the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and internationally recognized best practices expected by major indexing databases, including Scopus. The editorial office ensures that every manuscript is managed fairly, efficiently, and confidentially from submission through publication.

Editorial Management

The Editorial Office is responsible for the overall administration and coordination of the journal's editorial workflow. All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine their suitability, originality, scientific quality, ethical compliance, and adherence to the journal's author guidelines before they are considered for peer review. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's scope or minimum quality standards may be declined without external review.

Peer Review Management

The journal operates a rigorous double-blind peer review system to ensure an objective and unbiased evaluation of all manuscripts. Suitable submissions are assigned to qualified reviewers with relevant subject expertise. Editors oversee the peer review process, evaluate reviewers' recommendations, and ensure that editorial decisions are based solely on scientific merit, methodological quality, originality, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal's scope. Confidentiality is maintained throughout the review process.

Editorial Decision-Making

Editorial decisions are made independently by the Editor-in-Chief or designated Associate Editors after careful consideration of reviewers' comments and the manuscript's scientific contribution. Decisions may include acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection. Editorial decisions are free from commercial influence, personal interests, or institutional bias.

Manuscript Processing and Production

Following acceptance, manuscripts undergo professional copyediting, language editing where necessary, formatting, reference verification, plagiarism re-screening (if required), proofreading, and final quality checks before publication. Authors are provided with page proofs to review and approve prior to publication. Only minor corrections are permitted at the proof stage unless exceptional circumstances exist.

Issue Compilation and Publication

The Editorial Office is responsible for compiling each journal issue by ensuring that accepted manuscripts are accurately prepared, organized, and scheduled according to the journal's publication frequency. Articles are published only after successful completion of all editorial, production, and quality assurance procedures. The journal may also publish online-first articles and special or supplementary issues when approved by the Editorial Board.

Author Support and Submission Assistance

The journal provides guidance and administrative support to authors throughout the submission and publication process. The Editorial Office assists with manuscript submission requirements, formatting queries, ethical documentation, revisions, copyright forms, and publication procedures. While editorial staff may provide technical assistance, they do not influence editorial decisions or modify the scientific content of submitted manuscripts.

Quality Assurance

The journal maintains a comprehensive quality control system throughout the editorial workflow. Editorial staff verify compliance with reporting guidelines, ethical approvals, authorship requirements, conflict of interest disclosures, funding statements, data availability statements, and reference accuracy. Plagiarism detection software is used during manuscript screening, and additional checks may be performed before publication when necessary.

Editorial Independence

The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board exercise full editorial independence in all publishing decisions. Editorial judgments are based exclusively on the scientific quality, originality, validity, and significance of the submitted work. Commercial interests, sponsorship, advertising, or institutional affiliations do not influence editorial decisions.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts, peer review reports, reviewer identities, editorial correspondence, and unpublished research data are treated as confidential documents. Editors, reviewers, and editorial staff must not disclose or use unpublished information for personal or professional advantage.

Ethical Compliance

The journal adheres to internationally accepted standards of publication ethics and research integrity. Allegations involving plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, image manipulation, authorship disputes, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or other forms of research misconduct are investigated according to established ethical procedures. Appropriate corrective actions, including corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions, may be implemented when warranted.

Continuous Improvement

The Editorial Board regularly reviews and updates editorial policies, peer review procedures, publication practices, and quality assurance measures to align with evolving international publishing standards and recommendations issued by organizations such as ICMJE, COPE, and other recognized scholarly publishing bodies. The journal is committed to continuous improvement in editorial quality, transparency, efficiency, and research integrity.
