Research and Publication Ethics

The Journal of Performance Management (JPM) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of research integrity, publication ethics, and professional conduct. The journal follows internationally recognized ethical publishing principles and expects all participants in the publication process—including authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher—to adhere to these standards.

The journal promotes honesty, transparency, accountability, fairness, and respect in scholarly communication and is committed to safeguarding the integrity of the academic record.

Principles of Research Integrity

All research submitted to the journal must be conducted and reported in accordance with accepted ethical and scientific standards.

Authors are expected to ensure that:

  • Research findings are reported accurately and honestly.
  • Data are collected, analyzed, and presented responsibly.
  • Results are not fabricated, falsified, manipulated, or selectively reported.
  • Research methods are described clearly and transparently.
  • Conclusions are supported by evidence.

Any form of research misconduct is considered unacceptable.

Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.

All authors should have contributed significantly to:

  • Study conception or design;
  • Data collection, analysis, or interpretation;
  • Manuscript drafting or critical revision;
  • Approval of the final version for publication.

Individuals who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must submit original work that has not been previously published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.

The journal does not tolerate:

  • Direct plagiarism
  • Self-plagiarism
  • Mosaic plagiarism
  • Duplicate publication
  • Redundant publication
  • Unauthorized use of copyrighted materials

All submissions may be screened using plagiarism-detection software before and during the review process.

Manuscripts containing significant plagiarism may be rejected immediately.

Data Integrity and Research Transparency

Authors are expected to maintain accurate research records and retain supporting data where appropriate.

Authors should:

  • Present data truthfully and accurately;
  • Avoid fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of results;
  • Provide sufficient methodological details to enable replication;
  • Cooperate with reasonable requests for clarification or verification.

Where applicable, authors are encouraged to make research data available in accordance with ethical and legal requirements.

Multiple, Duplicate, and Concurrent Submission

Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time.

The journal considers duplicate submission and duplicate publication to be unethical publishing practices.

Any manuscript found to be under consideration elsewhere may be rejected immediately.

Conflict of Interest

All participants in the publication process must disclose any relationships or interests that could influence their objectivity.

Potential conflicts may include:

  • Financial interests
  • Employment relationships
  • Consulting arrangements
  • Institutional affiliations
  • Personal relationships
  • Research funding sources

All relevant conflicts of interest must be declared at the time of submission.

Ethical Approval and Human Research

Research involving human participants, surveys, interviews, personal data, or other sensitive information must comply with relevant ethical standards and institutional requirements.

Authors should provide:

  • Ethical approval details where applicable;
  • Information regarding informed consent;
  • Confirmation that participant rights and privacy have been protected.

The journal reserves the right to request additional documentation concerning ethical approval.

Reviewer Ethics and Responsibilities

Reviewers play a critical role in maintaining the quality and integrity of scholarly publications.

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, constructive, and professional evaluations;
  • Maintain strict confidentiality;
  • Disclose conflicts of interest;
  • Avoid using unpublished information for personal benefit;
  • Report suspected ethical concerns, plagiarism, or misconduct.

Reviewers should evaluate manuscripts solely on academic merit.

Editorial Ethics and Responsibilities

Editors must:

  • Make decisions based on scholarly merit and relevance;

  • Address ethical concerns promptly and fairly;
  • Take appropriate action when misconduct is suspected.

Editorial decisions shall not be influenced by commercial, institutional, political, or personal considerations.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative Tools

Authors may use AI-assisted tools for language improvement, editing, or formatting purposes, provided that such use is disclosed where appropriate.

However:

  • AI tools cannot be listed as authors.
  • Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the manuscript.
  • AI-generated content must be carefully reviewed and verified by the authors.
  • The use of AI must not result in plagiarism, misinformation, fabricated references, or unethical research practices.

Allegations of Misconduct

The journal takes all allegations of research or publication misconduct seriously.

Potential misconduct may include:

  • Plagiarism
  • Data fabrication
  • Data falsification
  • Citation manipulation
  • Authorship disputes
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest
  • Duplicate publication
  • Peer-review manipulation

The journal will investigate allegations fairly, confidentially, and objectively before making a final determination.

To preserve the integrity of the scholarly record, the journal may take corrective actions when necessary.

These actions may include:

  • Publishing corrections or errata;
